THE waiting game continues for Justin Brownlee and Barangay Ginebra with regards to the sanction against him for his positive doping test after the Asian Games.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone said they have not received anything from any party with regards to Brownlee’s sanction after he tested positive for THC in a random drug test after Gilas Pilipinas won the gold medal in the Asiad.

Cone said Brownlee was also originally scheduled to arrive in the Philippines on Saturday, but didn’t make the trip.
“I haven’t spoken to him. We were hoping he would come in yesterday but something happened to his flight, for him personally. I’m not sure what it was but he didn’t make the flight. But we are still waiting to hear.”
“I’m not involved in the process of talking to the SBP, talking to obviously Fiba or WADA, whoever we have to talk to. That’s not part of my role. I really don’t know what’s going on,” said Cone.
“I was informed that we are going to get some kind of ruling last week and nothing came down. I’m not sure where it’s going to go at this point,” said Cone.
For now, Cone is now focusing on Ginebra’s preparation for the Commissioner’s Cup with Tony Bishop sitting in as the import.
Cone COVID positive
Cone was coming off a vacation in the United States, and had just joined Ginebra practice after contracting COVID-19.
“I’ve got to keep working with Ginebra and doing my best I can with them. I feel terrible for Justin and I feel terrible that we’ve not been able to bring him back this conference so that we can defend this championship. I feel terrible for the players because they absolutely love Justin.
“But bottomline is we have to move forward, and I was tasked to look for another import once we heard this might happen,” said Cone.
