STAR fans are holding their breath as James Yap suffered a right calf strain in the Hotshots’ 117-98 loss to San Miguel Beer in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday night.
The Hotshots superstar was having his best-scoring game of the conference with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting when he had to go out late in the third quarter after hearing something pop on his calf in a self-sustained injury.
“May bigla na lang pumutok,” Yap recounted after the game. “Masarap na sana feeling (sa laro), pero ganun talaga ang basketball eh.”

“Malungkot lang dahil first time ako maka-feel ng ganito na medyo malala,” added the two-time MVP, who will have his injury checked out on Monday morning by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raul Canlas.
Yap went out with a little less than four minutes left in the third quarter and never returned, reduced to spectator with an ice pack on his calf.
It was a double whammy for the Hotshots, whose three-game win streak was snapped as they dropped to 4-5 win-loss slate.
