CHRISTIAN Standhardinger branded growing rumors about a possible trade involving him as ‘a scam.’

The San Miguel rookie said he’s not bothered at all by talks swirling on social media about him being traded by a franchise that went out of its way to get the rights to select him as the top overall pick in the last rookie draft.

“I’m not worried about those scams,” said the 6-foot-8 Fil-German on Wednesday when asked about the matter.

Rumors about a trade involving Standhardinger have been going the rounds on social media for the past weeks while the 28-year-old big man recovers from a knee injury that kept him out of the SMB lineup for weeks now.

One rumor has the Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player going to San Miguel's sister team Magnolia while another has him going to Alaska in a one-on-one trade for suspended Aces forward Calvin Abueva.

The trade that brought big man Kelly Nabong from GlobalPort to SMB further fanned the flames of the rumors.

Standhardinger said he hasn’t really heard anything about it, but trusts the San Miguel organization enough to believe that he'll be the first to know if indeed he is traded.

“I didn’t hear about me getting traded anywhere,” he said. “I think that San Miguel organization is professional so far, and they are all professional. So I’m pretty sure that I will be the first one to know that I’ll get traded or not.”

At the moment, Standhardinger continues to undergo rehabilitation on his hurting left knee that has forced him to miss the Beermen’s last two outings.

He admitted being frustrated at times not being able to help the Beermen’s cause as they try to retain their PBA Commissioner’s Cup title, and hopefully, complete a rare grand slam.

“Yes, I’m frustrated at not being able to contribute,” said Standhardinger. “It’s going to be tough because I have to go back and be in game shape, and obviously, the team is winning right now so that’s great.”

The Beermen are currently in the middle of the pack with a 5-4 record and on track to make the playoffs. They face also-ran Blackwater and Magnolia in their final elimination-round assignments.
