CHRISTIAN Standhardinger formally joined the NorthPort family by attending Wednesday’s practice at the Greenmeadows gym where he was warmly welcomed by his new teammates.
“Kagabi pa lang kinausap ko na. Sabi ko kailangan ka namin dito at stay positive,” said NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio.
The former San Miguel big man showed up for practice a day after the trade that sent him to NorthPort in exchange for fellow No. 1 pick Mo Tautuaa was approved by the PBA Commissioner's Office.
Incidentally, Standhardinger’s first game as a NorthPort cager will be against San Miguel on October 23.
The Fil-German played for five conferences with the Beermen, winning two championships with the team. But his playing time declined in the past few conferences as he played behind June Mar Fajardo as well as import Chris McCullough during the Commissioner’s Cup.
