DIGOS CITY - Ronald Tubid, Willie Miller and retired legend Kenneth Duremdes took over in the final period to power the PBA Stalwarts to a 112-105 win over the fighting PBA Greats on Friday night in the Annual All-Star festivities at the Davao del Sur Coliseum.
The 6'2" Tubid buried three consecutive three-point shots to rally the Stalwarts from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit while Miller and 'Captain Marbel' Duremdes put the finishing touches to the win with a triple each in the endgame.
Duremdes, the 1998 PBA MVP who is still in shape being a regular in the legends circuit, and Mark Macapagal finished with 19 points apiece in a game that ended in chaos when fans at the packed venue flooded the court and mobbed players from both sides at the buzzer.
Tubid chipped in 18 while Miller and big man Jervy Cruz added 16 apiece in the unique game that features a combination of active and retired players on both sides.
For a while, the Stalwarts appeared headed for a breezy win after erecting a 47-29 bulge behind Macapagal's explosive first half.
The Greats though rallied behind PJ Simon, Joe Devance and Rodney Santos to eventually take driver's seat early in the fourth quarter.
