SORRY to disappoint, but comedian Vice Ganda won’t be Globalport’s muse when the PBA opens its 39th season Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Talks about Vice Ganda reprising the role he played with Powerade two years ago was not surprising, the popular TV host having been linked in the past with Batang Pier rookies Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia.
Sources within the team bared team officials did tinker with the idea of getting Vice Ganda as muse, but later dropped the plan and instead tapped teen star Maxene Magalona.
No reason was given by Globalport management on why it never pushed through with the plan, although it didn’t deny the fact that having Vice Ganda as muse of the team on opening day would've beeen a big hit among fans.
Other than being linked with Romeo and Garcia, Vice Ganda has been known as one of the biggest supporters of the FEU Tamaraws team, having been an alumnus of the Morayta-based school.
Vice Ganda even tweeted a message of support to both FEU stars on the day they were selected by Globalport owner Mikee Romero during the recent PBA rookie draft.
The host of the noontime show It’s Showtime was among the surprises during the PBA opening in 2011 when he acted as muse of the Powerade team, where he even showed his dribbling ability during the proceedings to the delight of the jampacked crowd at the Big Dome.
Still, Vice Ganda may not serve as Globalport muse but expect the celebrity to be at ringside in one of Globalport's games one of these days.
