THE PBA has approved the trade that sent Sol Mercado from NorthPort to Phoenix Pulse for LA Revilla and Rey Guevarra.
The deal was approved by the league on Monday, a day after both teams agreed in principle to make the trade.
The deal was officially announced just minutes after Phoenix Pulse ended its practice on Monday at the Upper Deck. None of the three players were present at the training facility on Monday.
The move ended Mercado’s brief run with NorthPort, his third stint with the franchise in 11 years in the PBA. Mercado, along with Kevin Ferrer and Jervy Cruz, were part of the deal that sent Stanley Pringle to Barangay Ginebra last June.
Mercado was a vital cog in the Batang Pier’s run in the Governors’ Cup but suffered an injury that forced him to miss a big part of the playoffs.
Mercado though has yet to sign a deal with NorthPort before the trade was consummated.
Revilla, meanwhile, was recently signed to a six-month contract with Phoenix before the trade. Revilla spent much of the season recovering after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs in his foot.
