SAN Miguel Corp. top brass covet a grand slam.
Top officials made it clear the PBA team will be going all out for the second grand slam in franchise history during the newly minted Commissioner's Cup champions' victory party at the SMC main office in Mandaluyong City.
“Two down, one to go,” said San Miguel Brewery president Bobby Huang in front of the team, employees, and fans on Tuesday night. “Ipapaalala ko lang ang aking munting kahilingan. Simple lang. Isang grand slam.”
After winning the all-Filipino Philippine Cup and the Commissioner's Cup, the Beermen are one title away from duplicating the 1989 grand slam pulled off by an SMB team led by Mon Fernandez and Hector Calma and coached by Norman Black.

SMC president Ramon S. Ang praised the team for another championship, just months after the Beermen won a fifth straight Philippine Cup crown.
Ang also hailed the Beermen for playing 'clean and fair' during the finals against TnT KaTropa.
“Congratulations sa inyong lahat. Napakaganda ng laro na ito. Nabigyan niyo talaga ng sobrang entertainment ang mga kababayan natin. Ang masaya dito at ang mabuting nangyari, napakaganda ng laro na yet ‘yung mga playesr natin, malinis ang laro. Walang dirty plays,” Ang said.

San Miguel coach Leo Austria embracedthe challenge posed by management.
“After first conference and second conference, alam ko na kung ano gusto niyong mangyari,” Austria told the audience. “We have a common goal. Magkita-kita uli tayo sa next conference at suportahan natin ang ating koponan. We will do our best.”
In simple ceremonies, San Miguel sports director Alfrancis Chua presented the Commissioner’s Cup trophy – the 27th of the franchise in the PBA – to Ang and Huang.
The team also held a meet and greet for employees and even fans who attended the victory party at the company’s headquarters.
