SAN Miguel has made a move by acquiring the signing rights to JM Calma from NorthPort in exchange for Avan Nava and the Beermen’s Season 50 second-round draft pick.
The PBA trade committee approved the trade on Wednesday.
In Calma, the Beermen got a young big man that could serve as a back-up to eight-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo once the former recovers from an ACL injury.

Calma got hurt in a game against Terrafirma last April 2024 and is on track for a comeback in the coming PBA Philippine Cup
The 6-foot-6 Calma has been on the rise before he got hur, averaging 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Batang Pier in the 2024 Philippine Cup.

The former San Sebastian big man drafted No. 6 in the Season 47 Draft should bring added heft and size to a Beermen side that is looking to atone after missing the playoffs in the last Commissioner's Cup.
Nava, on the other hand, was picked No. 12 by the Beermen in the Season 49 draft but never got to see action in the recently-concluded Commissioner's Cup.
