TERRENCE Romeo finally gets his chance to face off against his old team TNT KaTropa on Saturday, but the San Miguel guard is trying his best not to make a big fuzz about it.
"Wala namang special sa magiging laban namin," he said as the Beermen made their final preparations on Friday for Game One of the highly anticipated best-of-three quarterfinal in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.
Romeo, who was traded by TNT to San Miguel before the start of the season, missed the eliminations meeting between the two sides last January 27 owing to an ankle injury.
The KaTropa won that duel, 104-93.
The former Gilas Pilipinas mainstay, however, said he's not really putting too much weight on the collision, noting that it just so happened that San Miguel and TNT drew each other early in the postseason.
"Kami yung nagkatapat sa playoffs and that's normal. Nagkataon lang na TNT," he said.
The two rivals finished tied with Barangay Ginebra on 7-4 cards but got beat out by the Gin Kings for the third seed in the quotient tiebreak.
"Kailangan pa rin namin ibigay ang best namin para manalo. Kailangan lang namin na mapatunayan na deserving kami sa playoffs."
In his case, Romeo also doesn't think that he has anything left to prove to his old team as the three-time scoring champion put his full focus on trying to help the Beermen claim their fifth straight all-Filipino title.
"Para sa akin, wala naman akong kailangan pang patunayan. Gusto ko lang makatulong sa team ko at mangyayari na ang dapat mangyari," he said.
