ASSISTANT coach Jorge Gallent has carried over his hot streak to the playoffs.
The Beermen have won their fifth straight game under Gallent on Wednesday after beating Converge, 114-96, in Game One of their best-of-three quarterfinal series in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
San Miguel remains unbeaten since Gallent temporarily took over the reins after head coach Leo Austria was placed under the league's health protocols last November 21.

Gallent, 54, is no spring chicken as a head coach, as he actually has six titles under his belt when he coached the Harbour Centre franchise to championships in the defunct Philippine Basketball League.
The San Miguel assistant coach said he usually takes care of the defense of the ballclub, but he has taken more responsibilities in his role as the acting head coach.
“It’s just more responsibilities,” said Gallent. “Being an acting head coach, it’s more responsibilities. You have to deal with these good 15 players.”
“Before kasi, it was all team defense. But now, it’s also dealing with these guys,” said Gallent.
The former FEU Tamaraw is one win away from leading San Miguel to the semifinals but was quick to play down his role, saying the entire coaching staff is pitching in.
Gallent said they are ready to step aside once Austria returns.
“Coach Leo is still recovering. We wish him all the best. When he is ready to come, me, coach Peter [Martin, and coach Ato [Agustin], we are just here filling the spot. When he is ready, we will see,” said Gallent.
