JUSTIN Brownlee sustained cramps in Barangay Ginebra’s overtime loss against NLEX, but head coach Tim Cone has ruled out any major injury ahead of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.
Brownlee missed the final three minutes of the game and was in a lot of pain when the team’s physical therapist and staff attended to the Ginebra import.

But Cone assured Brownlee didn’t sustain a major injury, and will be okay in the coming days.
“Cramps again. Thankfully, it’s cramps and not a knee issue or anything like that,” said Cone.

Brownlee had a history of cramps particularly in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, where the heat got into the Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player during the group stage of the competition against the host team.
With Brownlee not suffering a major injury, Cone expects his import to be ready for the upcoming quarterfinal series against Meralco, an affair that will be a best-of-five.
“Justin has proven that he is pretty indestructible, knock on wood. Give him a day or two, he will be recovered and ready to go,” said Cone.
With Brownlee out, NLEX took advantage, dealing Barangay Ginebra a 103-99 overtime defeat, giving the Road Warriors a playoff spot.
Brownlee rued his inability to rehydrate that caused him to suffer from cramps in the end game.
“I guess I have to do a better job. Everybody knows I have history with cramps and stuff like that. I just have to do a better job rehydrating or giving myself hydrated for the game, even during the game,” Brownlee said.
