ANTIPOLO – Jio Jalalon is not the only free agent let go by Titan Ultra going to PBA Season 50.
Sidney Onwubere was likewise not offered a contract by the Giant Risers for the season-opening Philippine Cup, making the 6-foot-4 forward out of Emilio Aguinaldo College an unrestricted free agent.

Even before the sale of Northport to Titan, SPIN.ph learned the Batang Pier already issued Onwubere’s released papers when his contract expired last June.
But even after Titan officially acquired the NorthPort franchise last week, the team no longer showed interest in bringing him back to its roster.
Like Onwubere, Jalalon was likewise released by Titan Ultra without getting someone in return as the spunky guard officially became an unrestricted free agent by the end of September.
The 32-year-old Onwubere was a first-round pick (No. 8 overall) by Phoenix in the 2017 draft, but never got to play for the Fuel Masters after being traded to TNT.
He played just a season with TNT before being on the move again when he was shipped to Rain or Shine as part of the Jericho Cruz trade.
Onwubere then went briefly to NorthPort in another trade and later on landed at Barangay Ginebra in a one-on-one deal for Arthur Dela Cruz.
It was with the Kings that he enjoyed a successful career, winning two championships in his four-year stint with the franchise before he returned to the Batang Pier in 2024.
In the seven seasons that he played, Onwubere averaged 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds.
