SIDNEY Onwubere said there is no beef between him and Caelan Tiongson after the two got into a few physical exchanges in the tailend of NorthPort’s match against Rain or Shine.
Onwubere said he was only playing hard against Tiongson with the Batang Pier still wanting to come back from the huge deficit against the Elasto Painters. NorthPort eventually lost, 113-96.

During every physical encounter, Tiongson tried to shake hands with Onwubere in the final minutes and even at the end of the match, but Onwubere declined to do so each time.
Even so, Onwubere said there is nothing personal with what happened on the court between him and Tiongson.
“Just competing,” said Onwubere. “Siyempre tambak. Gusto naming manalo. ‘Yung outcome ng laro, medyo masama. We wanted to keep it close pero kinapos. Just competing.”
“Wala na ‘yun. After the game, last buzzer, paglabas namin, we’re friends. We talk,” said Onwubere.
On Tiongson’s final attempt to shake hands with him, Onwubere said the game was still ongoing.
“Ongoing ‘yung game eh. When we are in the court, walang kai-kaibigan. We are competing. It’s part of like gimmick,” said Onwubere.
“I’m avoiding it. Pero outside the court, he can talk to me, he can say hi, and shake hands,” he added.

Onwubere actually had a solid outing when he had 10 points and 12 rebounds for NorthPort. He also shot 4 of 7 from the field in 27 minutes and 21 seconds of action against Rain or Shine, which is actually Onwubere's former team from 2018 to 2020.
