THE horror of losing another key player in a PBA Finals is haunting Rain or Shine once again.
Tough defensive guard Ryan Arana is doubtful for Game Three of the PLDT myDSL-Philippine Cup title series on Wednesday after he was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after hurting his collar bone early in Game Two.
“We’re still waiting word from the hospital on his status,” declared coach Yeng Guiao during his post-game interview after the Elasto Painters’ 80-70 loss against San Mig Coffee.
“I think he’s doubtful (for Game Three).”
Arana suffered the shoulder injury after he tried to fight a tough pick provided by 6-foot-7 Rafi Reavis early in the first quarter. He was rushed to the hospital at halftime.
The incident brought to mind the same shoulder injury suffered by guard Paul Lee in Game Two of the Governors Cup Finals in 2012 against San Mig. The former Rookie of the Year sat out the rest of the series, which the Elasto Painters nonetheless won in seven games.
“In pain siya. Kasi nung binigyan siya ng screen ni Reavis nung pagdaan sinalya siya, kaya natiyempuhan siya sa collar bone,” said Guiao of the crucial play.
“Medyo naka-usli kanina (collar bone), so they have to take him to the hospital.”
Arana failed to score and was 0-for-5 from the field in nine minutes of play.
