SCOTTIE Thompson suffered a shoulder injury that proved to be a dampener to Barangay Ginebra’s  91-90 win over NLEX in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday night.

The rookie playmaker starred in the Gin Kings familiar comeback from 22 points down and looked like he would finish the game until he strained his shoulder after a collision with an NLEX player in the Road Warriors’ inbound play within the last three seconds of the contest.

Thompson said he can’t gauge how serious the injury is.

“Hindi ko ma-tantsa eh,” the 22-year-old cager said. “Minsan hindi siya masakit, pero may galaw na masakit.”

Gin Kings coach Tim Cone said Thompson will undergo magnetic resonance imaging on Monday.

“We just don’t want to mess around with a young guy like that who’s got so much promise and potential,” the American coach said. “Hopefully (the result) comes out negative and he’s okay.”

“One of our doctors said he can still play…but we really won’t know until we have an MRI,” he added.

The injury spoiled what had been an impressive night for Thompson, who scored 10 of his 14 points in the payoff period, including the last two from the foul line that put them up for good.

“Dinasal ko na lang talaga (yung free throws),” Thompson said. “Si God na siguro tumira ‘nun.”

The former NCAA MVP credited the crowd for the great Ginebra comeback from a 75-53 deficit.

“Fifteen points pa yung lamang ng NLEX, parang dikit na dikit na yung laban (dahil sa crowd),” Thompson said. “Sobrang thankful kami sa mga sumusuporta.”
