SHABAZZ Muhammad has officially taken over the spot as San Miguel import and will play for the Beermen in their game against Magnolia on Sunday in the PBA Season 46 Governors’ Cup.
Muhammad has been activated, replacing Orlando Johnson in time for their next match-up on Sunday where the Beermen are eyeing to improve on their 5-3 win-loss card.
The 29-year-old Muhammad makes his PBA debut under a rare circumstance.
Muhammad was supposed to suit up for Meralco during the conference, but it didn’t push through due to a personal emergency. But the former Minnesota Timberwolves player somehow became available a few months later.
Shabazz Muhammad is finally set for hs PBA debut.
San Miguel then grabbed the opportunity and the Beermen made an import change despite the solid showing of Johnson over the past two games.
“You cannot pass up an opportunity like this,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
Muhammad will be the Beermen’s third import, with Brandon Brown starting out for the ballclub this conference.
