LUCENA – Expect a sellout crowd at the Quezon Convention Center to witness Game Two of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel Beer and Barangay Ginebra on Sunday night.
Fans started lining up as early as 1 p.m., three hours before the gates open and ahead of the 6:30 p.m. tipoff of the road game where the Beermen aim for a two-game lead and the Gin Kings seek to tie the series at one apiece.
Fans who won’t be accommodated inside the venue that has a capacity of over 7,000 people can watch the game outside where the league set up a giant screen.
Ginebra utility staff roamed around the venue and distributed banners of their team to fans, who repaid the gesture with chants of “Gi-ne-bra!” that reverberated the arena.
Marcio Lassiter, who registered eight points on 2-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, five boards, three assists, two steals, and one block without committing a single turnover in 26 minutes as a starter, conceded that the crowd will favor the Gin Kings.
“The crowd’s going to be there, but we have to play our game and not worry about other factors,” Lassiter said after the series opener. “And just try to be mentally focused and have all the guys prepared.”
