HAS it looked like June Mar Fajrado lost his two front teeth recently?
Don’t be fooled; it’s just the multi-colored mouthpiece the San Miguel Beer superstar has been wearing since the start of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Fajardo has been wearing a transparent mouthpiece ever since, but decided to have one this season-ending conference custom-made to make it appear that he has broken front teeth –his simple way of bringing joy to people.
“Pinagawa ko… Syempre, para maiba, ‘di ba?” Fajardo said after the team’s two-point win over Phoenix on Wednesday in Antipolo. “Para pag nakita yun, may mga tao na down, ‘di ba? Pag nakikita nila yun, syempre matatawa sila. Parang yun yung point ko eh.”
“Ako nga mismo, pag nakikita ko yun, natutuwa ako eh, so hopefully sila din,” the gentle giant added. “To cheer up lang ba.”
So while he’s proud to show his smile with seemingly broken teeth, the Cebuano pride is also putting smiles on people’s faces – with a full set of pearly whites.
While it looks like he has some missing teeth, Fajardo couldn’t miss from the foul line on Wednesday night when he made all his 12 free throws on the way to scoring 24 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, 17 boards, six blocks, and four assists in over 37 minutes of play.
And with him back in top form, the three-time reigning MVP will cheer more fans up when he leads the Beermen to a grand slam this season.
