AFTER deferring his entry to the PBA for the last two years, Alvin Pasaol believes that he's more than ready to make the leap this time around.
"Hindi naman sa gumaling ako, pero siguro mas nadagdagan lang ang kaalaman ko about sa basketball. At mas naging experienced ako sa paglalaro," said Pasaol, who has declared for the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft.
The burly 6-foot-2 super scorer has been on the radar of several PBA teams for years now, chose to stay away from the draft. Now older and wiser, the University of the East product is a cinch to be picked in the first round.
Pasaol said he's excited to see what fate awaits him and fellow 3x3 campaigners Joshua Munzon, Santi Santillan, Troy Rike, and Franky Johnson in the draft.
Pasaol is most excited about the prospects of facing Santillan in the PBA. He and the former De La Salle player have almost been inseparable since graduating from college.
"Excited akong makalaban ulit si Santi pag nasa PBA na kami," the Davaoeno banger said of the Cebuano forward.
Pasaol and Santillan have played together in the PBA D-League with Marinerong Pilipino, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) with Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines, the in Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 circuits and in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
"Two years ko siyang roommate kaya sa wakas, hindi ko na siya magiging kakampi," the 25-year-old said jokingly.
Playing in the PBA will be a dream come true for Pasaol, who grew up rooting for Ginebra legends Robert Jaworski and Noli Locsin.
"Sobrang excited ko kasi matutupad na ang pangarap namin. Excited ako kahit sino ang makalaban kasi halos lahat naman ng nasa PBA, talagang magagaling," said Pasaol.
"Napakalaking pride lang makasama at magkaroon ng chance na ma-draft sa PBA, kaya tingin ko ready na ako ngayon."
