SEAN Anthony said team play has been the major reason why NorthPort is on a hot start in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The NorthPort forward said everyone has been stepping up for the Batang Pier, who picked up their second win in as many outings after a 95-90 win over NLEX on Sunday.
The team effort is the reason why Anthony doesn’t want to take all the credit from NorthPort’s win after he finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals on Sunday against the Road Warriors.
“It’s not an individual performance,” Anthony said after the game. “I think the whole team stepped up. It’s been a big difference for us having a lot of guys stepping up. Multiple guys scoring in double figures. It’s not really on a couple of players. Everyone stepped up tonight.”
Anthony also said NorthPort’s bigs have been holding their own so far this conference including on Sunday where Mo Tautuaa had a game-high 11 boards against NLEX.
“Of course, I’m undersized compared to the other fours. What we make for lack of size, we make up in speed, heart, and hustle, that kind of stuff. Mo (Tautuaa) stepped up and Brad (Guinto) had a great game last game and again tonight."
"Our bigs are doing alright and we matched up against top bigs in Quinahan and Erram, and we held our own. We just have to continue that,” said Anthony.
