SEAN Anthony allayed concerns about the sudden swelling in his left foot that kept him out of NorthPort’s 110-108 win over Columbian Dyip in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Anthony was just as surprised when he found the swelling on the foot the morning of the game, saying he didn't remember twisting it or suffering a sprain. He even practiced without any discomfort the whole week.
“There’s some swelling that’s causing some pinching in my ankle,” said Anthony of what’s bothering his foot, while adding he’s scheduled to have it examined by Wednesday.
“We’ll figure it out. If the doctor calls for it (MRI), we’ll see,” added the Fil-Canadian.
Actually Anthony could have played in the game against the Dyip, but didn’t take the risk of aggravating the swelling.
“We’re just playing it safe since we kind of already qualified for the playoffs,” said Anthony of the Batang Pier, who raised their record to 8-2 following the victory over the Dyip.
But he was proud of the way NorthPort competed against a talented Columbian Dyip side despite coach Pido Jarencio playing with just a 10-man rotation.
“Obviously I want to be out there with my guys, but glad we’re able to pull it off. They did a great job of closing it out and great to see we got the win,” said Anthony.
He also assured he’ll be playing in the team’s final game in the eliminations against Meralco on July 12.
“It’s nine days away so I’ll be fine,” he said.
