SEAN Anthony went hard on himself after missing from point-blank range the potential game-winner in NLEX’s 91-90 loss to Barangay Ginebra in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday night.

Finding himself wide open in his team’s last offensive play off an inbound in the final 1.5 seconds, the Road Warriors star forward received a pass from Jonas Villanueva, but flubbed a stab from underneath that would’ve spared them the blushes after wasting a huge 22-point third quarter lead.

“I just missed a gimmie,” Anthony said. “I should’ve made it.”

But Road Warriors coach Boyet Fernandez hardly blamed his prized ward, saying they shouldn’t have let the game come to that point after establishing a 75-53 cushion.

“Hindi na dapat umabot ‘dun,” Ferandez said.

As a result, the Road Warriors squandered a chance to reach the Top Six that entails a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals.

“We needed that to get into the Top Six, so it was twice as hard a loss than usual,” Anthony said ahead of their final game in the elimination round against Rain or Shine.
