Sean Anthony eager to play former team NLEX as Batang Pier try to boost quarterfinal bid

    Sep 3, 2017

ASIDE from MacMac Cardona, one other Globalport player is looking forward to its PBA Governors Cup game against NLEX on Sunday.

Sean Anthony said he's ready to face his former team especially with the Batang Pier in serious contention for a berth in the quarterfinals.

Not for anything else, but the do-it-all forward says he's just out to help Globalport make it to the playoffs in his first conference with the franchise.

Anthony says it’s “going to be fun” as the Batang Pier and Road Warriors face off at 4:30 p.m. game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"It's always fun playing with your former teammates," said the Fil-Canadian. This will be the first time Anthony and Cardona — a last-minute inclusion in the Globalport lineup — will be playing against NLEX since they parted ways. Cardona was not given a contract renewal prior to the season, while Anthony was part of a complex four-team consummated middle of the Commissioner's Cup.

The meeting couldn't have come at a better time for Anthony, who exploded for 21 points, including 3 of 5 from three-point range in Globalport's huge 119-112 win over TnT Katropa on Friday in Antipolo.

The victory evened the Batang Pier's record at 3-3 and put them right back in contention for a berth in the quarterfinals.

"I'm just trying to do whatever is needed," said Anthony as he complemented the career-high of teammate Stanley Pringle, who finished with 30 points.

"We really need to start putting those Ws." Anthony hopes to get one at the expense of his former team.
