SCOTTIE Thompson is optimistic that he didn’t sustain a serious injury on Sunday when Barangay Ginebra went up against Blackwater on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Ginebra fans held their breath at the 3:57-mark of the second quarter when Bradwyn Guinto landed in Thompson’s left knee during a scramble for the loose ball in a close game at the Philsports Arena.

The former League MVP still was able to finish the game and played for 40 minutes and contributed seven points, three rebounds, and six assists in Ginebra’s 90-87 win over Blackwater.
“Sabi ng PT, so far, sa tingin nila, nothing serious. Sana,” said Thompson, who will be scheduled for an MRI to make sure that his knee is intact.
Thompson said he didn’t experience any pain in his knee when he was in the middle of the game.
“Ayokong i-hinto agad eh… Actually nung halftime, medyo sumasakit na. All adrenaline talaga ‘yung nangyari kaya medyo nag-alalay din ako,” said Thompson.

When asked during the interview how is he feeling, Thompson said: “Medyo hindi ko lang matupi. Baka maga pa or something.”
Thompson has also recovered recently from an illness he got over the past few weeks, with Ginebra coach Tim Cone saying that he has been giving him some rest in order to recover.
“He’s been battling a bad flu, cold over the past week and a half. And he just can’t shake it. But it’s not COVID. He’s got a bug that he can’t shake. I tried to give him some extended time to break,” said Cone.
