SCOTTIE Thompson was at a loss for words after winning a PBA title in his rookie year when Ginebra bagged the 2016 Governors’ Cup crown on Wednesday night.
But it was understandable for the soft-spoken pride of Digos City.
After all, Thompson has emerged as the new crowd darling as the Gin Kings finally reclaimed the throne with a thrilling 91-88 win over Meralco in Game Six before thousands of Ginebra faithful inside the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
"Sobrang blessed, sobrang saya. Hindi ko alam paano i-describe yung feeling kasi first championship," said the super rookie, who helped the team break an eight-year dry spell.
Thompson also admitted that after he finally got his first taste of a title, the former Perpetual star couldn't help but crave for more.
"Sana more to go," the former NCAA MVP said.
Thompson, though, insisted he has no illusion of being the future of the franchise even with the speculation over Jayjay Helterbrand’s retirement. Instead, he cited his only wish is to keep donning the Ginebra jersey for the rest of his career.
"Hindi natin alam kung ano mangyayari sa career, trabaho lang. Pinapangako ko na sana dito ako nagsimula, dito ako mag retiro. Lalaro talaga ako para sa kanila," he said.
