SCOTTIE Thompson grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds on Wednesday in Barangay Ginebra’s match against Magnolia in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals.
Unfortunately, Thompson’s efforts came on a losing note as the Gin Kings lost to the Hotshots, 85-72, in the last game of the best-of-three quarterfinals series.
Thompson said he took it upon himself to contribute in other aspects of the game as he struggled on offense, converting just one of his 11 shots from the field.
“Wala kasi akong magawa eh. Hindi ako maka-shoot. Tinry ko rin mag-hustle. Wala na akong ibang puwdeng gawin,” said Thompson.
After the series defeat against their archrivals, Thompson hopes Ginebra can use the exit as a learning experience for the coming Commissioner’s Cup where the Kings are the defending champions.
Thompson also added the early exit will also allow the Kings to prepare early for the Commissioner’s Cup with the team bringing in Justin Brownlee for the coming conference.
“Para sa kanila talaga. From the start, outplayed kami. Congrats sa kanila,” said Thompson.
“Nakakafrustrate kasi unang una, as a team, para sa sarili namin, lahat kami down. Ang pinakagusto ko lang is learn from the mistakes and keep looking forward kami. Marami pa naman kaming conference. Kailangan namin maging better,” said Thompson.
“Napaaga exit namin kahit hindi namin gusto. Siguro mas maaga rin preparation sa amin coming to the Commissioner’s Cup at makakapractice na sa amin si Justin,” Thompson said.
