SCOTTIE Thompson could be back with Barangay Ginebra before the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup takes a respite in August.
Gin Kings coach Tim Cone made it clear, however, they have no exact target date on when Thompson will return from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the recent window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Thompson has also been out for Ginebra through two games in the conference.
Ginebra waiting game
But Cone said Thompson has been doing the work for his recovery and potential return before the league-wide break after the August 14 game day.

The respite that runs from August 15 to October 6 is intended for Gilas Pilipinas’ participation in Window 4 of the Asian Qualifiers and 20th Asian Games where Thompson is in line to also take part.
“We are hoping that he can come back before the break, but that’s not written in stone at this point,” he said. “He is still recovering.”
“He is off on his own doing his work while we are practicing. When he comes back, he is in full sweat, so that’s a good indication that he could be pretty close to coming back.”
Thompson is joined by Justin Brownlee on the sidelines for the Gin Kings, although the latter is outside the country to recover from his own injuries.
“We really do not have a timetable on him yet and neither do we have a timetable on Justin, as well,” said Cone.
