BARANGAY Ginebra still has its fate in its hands after beating Phoenix Super LPG on Sunday in the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup.
The Gin Kings’ 106-89 victory over the Fuelmasters on Sunday moved them into solo fourth place with a 4-5 win-loss record in Group B, surpassing Meralco, which has dropped to fifth with a 4-6 mark. Blackwater is at last place with a 3-6 slate but still has an outside shot at the quarterfinals.

Sunday’s victory has also boosted Barangay Ginebra’s chance at making it to the quarterfinals, ahead of their final game against Blackwater on Friday at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.
The odds of the Gins advancing are very high.
Barangay Ginebra will book a ticket to the quarterfinals with a victory over Blackwater on Friday.
Even a loss against Blackwater that would force a triple tie with a 4-6 win-loss record could give Barangay Ginebra the quarterfinal berth.
Barangay Ginebra is currently ahead in point differential in games against Meralco and Blackwater. The Gin Kings are currently a +30 against the three teams after their 115-85 win over the Bossing in the first round. Barangay Ginebra and Meralco split their games with a similar nine-point margin.

Meralco is a +7 following two-point, and five-point wins over Blackwater, while Blackwater is a -37.
Ginebra can afford to lose, but not by 24 points or more against Blackwater, in order to advance.
But of course, the safest passage to the quarterfinals is a win over Blackwater.
