SAN Miguel outclassed Macau, 131-79, in one of the most lopsided wins in league history in Saturday’s PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup game at the Ynares Center-Montalban.

The Beermen led, 80-37, the 43-point gap also a league record for the biggest halftime margin in PBA history to cruise to their sixth win in eight games for second place in Group B.

The Beermen were even on pace to break the league-record 56-point margin when Rain or Shine defeated Blackwater, 151-95, set just last March 31 only for the Giant Pandas to score a couple of points in the final moments.

San Miguel grabbed the huge gap after outscoring Macau, 45-17, in the second period for the easy win in a game also marred by delays due to roof leaks brought about by strong rains.

George King played for just 11 minutes but still wound up with 19 points and shooting 8-of-11 from the field.

Compounding to Macau’s woes is the absence of De’Vondre Perry due to an injury after scoring 45 points in their previous game against Titan Ultra, as the Giant Pandas fell to 2-6.

Don Trollano had 17 points, while Jericho Cruz had 13 points, with the second and third stringers also getting minutes in the blowout game.

Jeron Teng had 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and JM Calma had 12 points on 6-of-6 from the field.

With Perry out, Kobey Lam and Damian Chongqui scored the bulk of Macau’s points with 24 and 23 respectively.

The 52-point win is the seventh all-time biggest winning margin in league history, according to PBA statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.

It was the largest victory in Beermen history, eclipsing the 49-point rout of Barangay Ginebra, 131-89, in last season’s Governors’ Cup.

The scores:

San Miguel 131 - King 19, Trollano 17, Cruz 14, Teng 13, Lassiter 12, Calma 12, Fajardo 9, Tautuaa 8, Cahilig 7, Brondial 6, Mantua 6, Ahanmisi 5, Hernandez 3, Ross 0.
