    SMB tries to get back on track as Meralco seeks to get win run going

    SAN Miguel seeks to bounce back when it faces Meralco on Sunday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

    The Grand Slam-seeking Beermen are coming off a defeat against NorthPort, 127-119, that dropped them to third place in the standings with a 5-2 record.

    The Beermen and Bolts clash at 6:45 p.m.

    Dez Wells led San Miguel with 56 points but his efforts were futile as the Beermen lost to a Batang Pier squad that is now being led by Christian Standhardinger.

    The Bolts, meanwhile, are in a share of fourth place with Barangay Ginebra with a 4-2 card and the team is looking to score a follow-up to their 106-97 win over Blackwater last Wednesday.

    The game is of much importance to both teams as they are seeking to stay in the top four at the end of the eliminations for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

      At 4-4, the Dyip are also eyeing a win against the defending champions in order to move closer to the top four teams in the standings.
