MIGHTY San Miguel goes for the kill against Phoenix on Thursday night as the defending champion seeks a place in the PBA Philippine Cup finals anew.
The battered Beermen lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1, and another win in the 7 p.m. match at the Astrodome will seal their fifth straight appearance in an All-Filipino title series.
While expecting another huge fightback from the top seeded Fuel Masters, the Beermen are expected to play with an assassin-like mentality to end it all, according to champion coach Leo Austria.
"We will work really hard next game because we don't want to extend the series," said Austria.
The four-time reigning champion asserted its dominance with a masterful 114-91 win in a physical Game Four where eight players were fined a total of P40,800.
Austria still anticipates Game Five to be as intense especially with the Fuel Masters' conference on the line.
"It's not going to be easy," he said. "They still have a chance."
Down and on the brink of elimination, Phoenix coach Louie Alas expects his team to still give San Miguel a good, hard fight till the end.
"Quiting is not an option," he stressed.
