SAN Miguel Beer continues its much-deserved vacation from its PBA Philippine Cup conquest as it opens its title-retention campaign in the Commissioner’s Cup on May 9 against Meralco at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After ruling the all-Filipino conference for a record fourth straight time, capped by a 108-99 double-overtime win over Magnolia in Game Five of the Finals last April 6, the Beermen will have a little over a month before facing the Bolts in their conference debut.
The Beermen just got back to practice on Thursday.
The Hotshots will also have ample time to rest as they won't make their midseason tournament debut until May 6, Sunday, against Phoenix at the MOA Arena, according to the full schedule the league released on Friday.
Aside from the Ynares Center in Antipolo, the league is also set to host road games in five other venues: a doubleheader pitting Ginebra against Blackwater as main game in Binan, Laguna on May 11, Globalport vs Magnolia at the AUF gym in Angles City, Pampanga on May 12, and SMB vs Alaska in Dumaguete on May 19, Saturday.
Ginebra will also treat fans out of town as it takes on NLEX in Legaspi City on June 9, Saturday, while SMB and NLEX face off in Calasiao, Pangasinan on June 23, Saturday.
The elimination round will have 35 playdates and will run until July 7, Saturday with a doubleheader pitting TNT KaTropa and Rain or Shine, and rematch of the all-Filipino Finals between SMB and Magnolia.
