SAN Miguel defeated Rain or Shine, 77-63, on Tuesday in a tune-up match at the Acropolis Gym as part of the Beermen’s build-up for the PBA Philippine Cup without five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
Terrence Romeo was one of the players that took command for the Beermen in the tune-up game after building a big lead in the first period.
Even though it was only a tune-up game, it was a promising result for the Beermen as they won without Fajardo, who will be out for the entire Philippine Cup due to a complete fracture in his right tibia.
Fajardo also could be out for the rest of the season depending on his recovery.
Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross also hit shots from downtown as the Beermen pulled away from the Elastopainters.
Mo Tautuaa and Billy Mamaril took turns in manning the paint, while new acquisitions Wendell Comboy and Gelo Alolino were also given playing time late in the match.
