SAN Miguel and Alaska look to complete the upset on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen take on NorthPort at 4:30 p.m., while the Aces battle TNT at 7 p.m. in sudden death matches for semifinal berths.
San Miguel and Alaska hurdled their higher seeded rivals on Sunday to book a do-or-die game for the semifinals.
The Beermen beat the second-seed Batang Pier, 98-84, and the Aces won over the top-ranked KaTropa, 108-72.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria hopes the Beermen will be able to sustain their effort.
“At least pareho kami knockout,” said Austria. “But the way we played, I think nandoon ‘yung desire nila. Hopefully, ma-sustain namin ito next game.”
Alaska coach Alex Compton still feels it will be a daunting task for the Aces to clinch a semifinal berth as he expects TNT to go all out in the rubber match and not put its 10-1 win-loss record it had earned during the eliminations go down to waste.
“What we have now earned ourselves is a chance to play a hungry, great, well-coached, disciplined, tough team on Wednesday after a bad loss. So we have to be absolutely great if we're going make it happen,” Compton said.
