SAN Mig guard Allein Maliksi is ready to launch another PBA comeback, over six months after suffering another major knee injury that has sidetracked his career.
The Kalookan City-born player confirmed he has already been given the green light by his doctor to rejoin training after completing his rehabilitation from an ACL (arterior cruciate ligament) tear in September.
However, Maliksi may not rejoin San Mig's lineup until the season-ending Governors Cup since Mixers coach Tim Cone is in no rush to get him back in action.
“May go signal na ako sa doctor na mag-ensayo at maglaro. Pero ayaw pa ni coach Tim, relax-relax lang daw muna ko,” said Maliksi, a fixture behind the San Mig bench during games.
“Okay lang din kasi maganda naman takbo ng team, ayaw ko rin makagulo sa rotation,” added the 26-year-old wingman out of University of Santo Tomas.
For now, Maliksi only does mostly one-on-one drills with San Mig assistant coach Richard del Rosario.
“Ganun na lang muna ko. Atleast, nare-ready ko na sarili ko for next conference. Next conference, lalaro na ko,” said Maliksi, adding he can't wait to rejoin San Mig in practice.
“Naiinip na rin talaga ako. Kaso tama si coach Tim, hindi ko ito kailangang madaliin. Kailangan kong palakasin para di ako magkaproblema baling araw,” added the former UST Tiger.
Maliksi said he will be ready once he gets the call from Cone.
“Oras na sabihan na ako ni Coach Tim na mag-practice, game na ako,” he said.
