RYAN Arana may be seeing limited action for San Miguel Beer in the PBA Governors Cup semifinals. But that doesn't diminish the fire in him to play.

He is actually more inspired to suit for the Beermen nowadays with the birth of his first born baby just a week ago.

"Inspired akong maglaro kasi lumabas na yung baby ko," said Arana of his one-week old baby boy named Thanos Cavan.

"Yun talaga ang inspirasyon ko ngayon, yung baby ko," he added.

And it was a good thing that almost a week since becoming a father, the veteran back-up guard finally saw action for the Beermen in their best-of-five semis with Barangay Ginebra Kings.

Arana played for eight minutes and finished with three points as he made the most of the time given to him during the Beermen's 101-72 rout of the Kings in Sunday's Game Four at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"Hinihintay ko lang naman talaga yung mabigyan ako ng break. Ako naman laging ready anytime na gamitin ako ni coach," he said after the reigning champions forced a do-or-die battle for a seat in the finals of the season-ending conference.

Even with less playing time, Arana said his confidence hasn't gone down, the veteran player that he is.

"Yung kumpiyansa naman hindi yan nawawala e," he said. "Ang kumpiyansa dapat hindi yan mawala. Dapat ready ka lagi kasi maliit lang yung opportunity na ibibigay sa iyo, kaya dapat i-grab mo."

It's fortunate Arana has a very supportive wife, who allows him to have enough rest and does not force him to take care of their baby especially during the wee hours, aware that her husband and the Beermen are in the crucial stretch of their campaign to defend the title.

"Yung wife ko ang laging puyat. Ako pinapatulog niya kasi alam naman niya na may mga games kami," said the guard out of La Salle.

Game Five of the series is set Tuesday, and Arana could only hope for he'll be able to play again and help the Beermen's cause whichever way he can.

"Ito ang gusto namin. I think kami ng mga teammates ko, we're built for this," said Arana, adding the advantage the Beermen had against the Kings in terms of playoff experience.
