BEING tall sometimes has its disadvantages.
June Mar Fajardo learned that the hard way after he was required to use crutches to walk around after hurting his left knee during the semifinal series between San Miguel and Rain or Shine in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.
Unfortunately, the crutches were way too short for the 6-10 giant.
“Kaya ‘yung saklay naging tungkod na lang,” said a smiling San Miguel teammate Ryan Arana in a short chat with Spin.ph after Game One of the all-Filipino conference finals on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Fajardo’s crutches were seen beside him in the Instagram post shared by Arana taken when some of the Beermen made a courtesy call on San Miguel big boss Ramon S. Ang in the company’s head office in Ortigas just before the best-of-seven title series.
Also with Fajardo and Arana in the photo were Arwind Santos, Chris Lutz, Alex Cabagnot, and Chris Ross.
“Ang liit kasi nung saklay na nabigay sa kanya. Hindi match sa height,” added Arana.
Turning serious, the San Miguel guard, who contributed four points in a 100-91 losing cause in the series opener against Alaska, hopes Fajardo can get back in shape and return in time for he best-of-seven finals.
“Hopeful kami na makabalik siya, kasi talagang malaking bagay sa amin si June Mar,” said Arana of the league’s back-to-back MVP, who visited noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raul Canlas on Monday morning to check on his injured knee.
