TNT is keeping its fingers crossed that RR Pogoy’s ankle sprain isn’t serious as the Tropang GIGA look to sustain their unbeaten run in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Pogoy was taken out of the game in the fourth quarter after hurting his left ankle following two awkward landings. The player who scored 45 points in the first game of the PBA bubble left the game for good when he twisted his ankle after taking a jumpshot and landing on the foot of Gelo Alolino.
Pogoy was then carried off by his TNT teammates back to the bench shortly after his left ankle buckled again on a defensive play.
In a report by Selina Dagdag-Alas on TV, Pogoy rated the pain in his ankle at eight, with 10 being the highest.
The game already saw San Miguel guard Terrence Romeo being sent to the hospital following a suspected dislocated shoulder. The Tropang GIGA also have an injured player with Kib Montalbo down with plantar fasciitis.
TNT coach Bong Ravena is hoping Pogoy will be able to recover immediately especially with the Tropang GIGA facing fellow unbeaten team Phoenix Super LPG on Monday.
“We have two days of rest but actually, it’s not a rest. He sprained his ankle. Hopefully, it’s not severe. We will see tonight how it is,” said Ravena.
