RR POGOY said the confidence of the team remains unshaken after TNT’s stunning loss in Game 5 of the PBA 50th Season Commissioner’s Cup finals against Barangay Ginebra.
Pogoy’s team were already up 87-80 when TNT lost the lead after a Justin Brownlee-led rally helped Barangay Ginebra secure a 100-95 win and a 3-2 lead in the finals series.
Pogoy, however, remains in high spirits, and is using last season’s finals as proof that the series isn’t over. The Tropang 5G were also down 3-2, but still won the championship by taking the next two games.

“Galing din kami ganito dati na 3-2. Basta trabahuin namin, walang imposible,” Pogoy said after Game 5. “Sabi ko nga, unang maka-apat. Tatlo pa naman kaya may chance pa.”
The loss spoiled Pogoy’s efforts after finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while defending Brownlee for most of the game.
“Sobrang hirap kasi sa amin na ‘yung momentum ng four quarters. Kapag Ginebra talaga kalaban, hindi basta basta mag-relax. Dami rin naming turnovers at missed free throws kaya nahabol,” Pogoy added.
Pogoy said he also needs to do a better job of guarding Brownlee after he went off for 54 points in Game 5.
“Justin is Justin. Grabe ‘yung ginawa niya,” Pogoy said. “Pero may mga instance kasi na may open shots siya, ‘yun ang sayang. Okay sana kung 1-on-1 kaso may mga mali pa rin kami sa game plan. May mga open shots siya (at dahil open), hindi siya napagod.”
