RR GARCIA felt like a rookie again after playing his first PBA tune-up game when he suited up for Rain or Shine on Thursday against Phoenix Pulse.
Garcia scored three points in teh Elasto Painters' 103-90 win over the Fuel Masters in Pasig City.
Howerver, the former Far Eastern University standout said he has not signed a contract with Rain or Shine.
“Wala pa hindi pa sigurado,” said Garcia on Thursday. “Sumasabay lang ako sa kanila kasi ininvite ako ni coach Caloy sa Rain or Shine. Nagpapasalamat din ako na mabibigyan ako ng chance na makapaglaro.”
Garcia has not played a single game this season after TNT relegated him to the unrestricted free agent list. His contract, however, expired last August 30 and TNT no longer holds his rights.
The former UAAP MVP is thrilled to be back on the court after several months of just working out and playing pick-up games with friends.
“First time ko rin maglaro ngaoyn. Ilang months ako nagpahinga. Para akong rookie uli eh nung naglaro ako,” said Garcia.
Garcia admitted Phoenix Pulse has also showed interest in signing him. But Garcia’s decision to play for Rain or Shine in the tune-up game speaks volumes of his intention to stay with the Elastopainters.
But Garcia said he is leaving the decision to management.
“Wala pa kasi hindi pa ako nakaka-sign. Hindi ko pa alam plano sa akin. Nakikisabay pa rin ako. Hinihintay ko desisyon ng management,” said Garcia.
