FOR the man who anchored the greatest comeback in PBA history, all is not lost for San Miguel in its Governors’ Cup quarterfinals series against Barangay Ginebra.
Playing assistant coach Chris Ross isn’t throwing the white towel yet despite the Beermen being in an unfamiliar situation after losing Game 2 in blowout fashion, 126-99, Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The loss pushed the Beermen to a 0-2 deficit and on the brink of being eliminated this early in the playoffs.

But Ross still sees a fight left in the embattled franchise.
“We’ve been here before,” he said without batting an eyelash.
It should all begin with the proper mindset, according to Ross, who was the one responsible for bringing back San Miguel from a 0-3 deficit to turn back Alaska during the finals of the 2016 Philippine Cup in what became known as the ‘Beer-acle.’
“We just have to change our mindset,” added the veteran guard. “We’re not playing any defense. We gave up 70 points in the first half, and we won’t win a game like that.”
Ginebra actually already had 69 points at the break, as they shot 65.8 percent from the floor including 61 percent from three-point range on 11-of-16 shooting.
The Kings ended up shooting 55 percent from the field and was 16-of-35 from the three-point area.
Ross said everything will have to start on defense if San Miguel will turn this series around.
“Hopefully we’ll play some defense, show some character, and we’ll be back in the series,” said the 41-year-old Fil-Am guard.
