SAN Miguel guard Chris Ross was quick to clear things up with TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa after a heated exchange of words during Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.
While Ross admitted getting into it with one of the league’s 50 Greatest Players of all-time, he said his tirade that was caught on national television was not actually directed at Lastimosa but at some fans.
“It wasn’t Jolas, it was some fans,” the San Miguel playing deputy coach said about the incident wherein he was seen being urged by some TNT supporters to step out of the court after spraining his ankle in the first half.
“You don’t talk to people who are hurt like this,” said Ross.

It happened the fans are women, according to Ross.
“I don’t talk down on women. I respect all women. And then Jolas got into it. So I got into it a little bit,” he added.
But the spirit of sportsmanship prevailed for both warriors after the game which San Miguel won, 95-89, behind CJ Perez’s spectacular plays in the clutch.
“He (Lastimosa) came up to me after the game and apologized. And that was it,” said Ross, who went scoreless in 16 minutes of play as he spent the rest of the game watching from the bench after hurting his ankle.
