TROY Rosario sustained an ankle sprain on Friday in Game 5 of the PBA 49th Season Commissioner’s Cup semifinals where Barangay Ginebra forged a finals rematch against TNT.

He was taken out of the game early in the third quarter before finishing with 11 points and two rebounds in 19 minutes and 46 seconds of action in the Gin Kings’ 126-99 win over top-seeded NorthPort.
Rosario got hurt with Ginebra now about to face the Tropang Giga, incidentally his former team, in the finals. But on the bright side, Rosario will have time to heal up with Game 1 of that affair to be held after a week.
“Na-tweak lang ‘yung ankle nung third. Medyo lang naman, medyo maga. Good thing may one week pa before Game 1. Makaka-recover pa,” said Rosario.
Rosario also bared that he was dealing an ankle sprain in his other foot in Game 4 of the semifinals against the Batang Pier.
“Last game, left ankle ‘yung tapilok. Ngayon, right ankle naman,” said Rosario.
Time heals all wounds
Gin Kings coach Tim Cone is taking a cautious approach with Rosario, but is also hoping that the break will allow him to recover just in time.
“We don’t know how severe that is, but he couldn’t come back into the game,” said Cone. “So hopefully, the five or six days that we have will give him a chance to get ready and get back in. But right now, we don't know if he's going to be able to play.”
Even though battered and bruised, Rosario is confident that he will be ready to go come Game 1.
“Medyo mataas lang [high ankle sprain]. Nalalagyan ko naman ng weight which is a good sign. Tapos siyempre, si PT RC [Cua] naman, positive na bababa,” said Rosario.
