A chance to win a championship while playing with his good friend in the PBA.

Kris Rosales welcomed the opportunity to join San Miguel and gave himself a shot at a first ever league championship and if ever, win together with close pal Simon Enciso.

“I’m excited. We both love to play defense, we’re both fast guards. And it would be fun to play together with each other and try to win a championship,” he related to SPIN.ph.

The 33-year-old Fil-Am was a surprise pick up for the Beermen in the unrestricted free agent list.

He was initially signed by Northport to a one-year extension only to be relegated in the UFAWR2 list later on.

More surprising was no team attempted to pick him up until San Miguel came along.

“I was given an extension and then after a few weeks, I was released and SMB picked me up,” he said of the sudden turn of events in his pro career.

At San Miguel, the 6-foot guard gets to play for the first time with pal Enciso, an experience that definitely thrills him.

“Me and Simon were of the same draft class,” said Rosales, who was part of the 2015 PBA draft class.

Both taken in the second round, Enciso was the first to be drafted at no. 17 by Rain or Shine, followed by Rosales two notches later by Barako Bull (now Phoenix)

“We get together all the time. We’re both guards, same group of friends. So I’m excited to play with him,” said Rosales of Encisco.

The 33-year-old Enciso has already won two championships since coming on board San Miguel in 2021.

Rosales hopes to follow the same path as his friend.

“I’m excited and just try to contribute whatever I can, try to fill some sports like defense, shooting, playmaking. Whatever the coaches need me to do. I’ll just try to contribute and win a championship.”

Rosales came close to winning his first ever league title during the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup only to lose out against San Miguel in six games of the finals.

Aside from TNT, he also had stints with Rain or Shine, NLEX, and Northport.
