JERICHO Cruz got his wish to be in the same camp as his former coach Yeng Guiao, just not in the same team.
Rain or Shine has sent the fourth-year star guard to TNT KaTropa for Sidney Onwubere and 2018 first-round pick.
ROS coach Caloy Garcia confirmed the trade over the phone on Tuesday, saying both teams have already agreed in principle and are also waiting for the approval of the PBA.
The move makes Cruz a member of the flagship club of the MVP Group, which includes Guiao who coaches another MVP team in NLEX.
Cruz, the E-Painters’ ninth overall pick in the 2014 Draft, was the league’s Most Improved Player and Mr. Quality Minutes in 2016 after helping ROS win its second championship in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.
The 27-year-old guard, though, has averaged only 2 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 boards this conference in his return from a foot injury.
The rookie Onwubere, on the other hand, is on the move again in just his first conference in the league, suiting up for his third team after Phoenix picked him as the eighth overall pick in last year’s Draft.
