MIGGY Corteza's stay with Rain or Shine turned out to be a very brief one.
Just a day after being selected by ROS in the second round at 20th overall of the PBA Season 49 draft, the 6-foot-4 power forward from Silay, Negros Occidental was dealt to Blackwater in exchange for a future second-round pick.

Corteza, who spent his college career at La Salle and Benilde where he was part of the Blazers' side that reached the NCAA Season 98 finals, now beefs up the frontcourt of a Blackwater side that is expected to be led by No. 2 pick Sedrick Barefield.
News about the trade has made the rounds after Sunday's draft but was made official by the league only on Wednesday.
It will be the latest stop in the pro career of 26-year old, who was listed in the lineup of defending MPBL champions Pampanga Giant Lanterns to start the season before being traded to the Marikins Shoemasters.
On the other hand, the Season 51 second-round pick (originally from TNT) that Rain or Shine got from the trade plays into the team's strategy of stacking up on future draft picks which have become a fertile ground for the ballclub.
