RAIN or Shine not only missed import Deon Thompson during its PBA Commissioner's Cup debut, but reliable guard Gian Mamuyac as well.
The 25-year-old Mamuyac suffered a fractured hand in practice and will be out of the entire elimination round of the import-laced conference.

If the Elasto Painters are not even fortunate to make the playoffs, it could mean missing the entire conference for the former Ateneo standout.
"Three months out. Fractured right hand," according to Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
Mamuyac showed up at the Ynares Center in Antipolo in street clothes and his right hand heavily bandaged during the Elasto Painters debut game against the Meralco Bolts, which they lost, 121-111.
Mamuyac joined Thompson on the sidelines as the import had yet secured a playing clearance at that time.
The absence of Mamuyac had Rain or Shine lining up rookie Mike Malonzo as its 15th local player for the conference. The No. 16 overall pick in the last rookie draft is coming off a stint with the San Juan Knights in the MPBL.

But no doubt, Rain or Shine will sorely miss the services of the 6-foot-2 Mamuyac, who led the team in free throw shooting during the Governors' Cup with a 77 percent average (52-of-67).
He is also the team's No. 2 in steals behind Jhonard Clarito with a 1.0 average, while ending up ranked No. 2 in most offensive fouls drawn with a total of 12 behind Terrafirma rookie Paolo Hernandez.
