RAIN or Shine has been playing so well in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs that the team has been spared of coach Yeng Guiao’s wrath.
The Elasto Painters had lost only once – to San Miguel Beer – in the playoffs, before bowing to Alaska in Game Four of the Finals on Friday night.
And that has triggered Guiao to be his tongue-lashing self, reason why they took longer than usual in the dugout after the loss that denied them of a sweep of the Aces in the best-of-seven series.
The result also forced Guiao to rebook his trip to London with his wife for their eldest daughter’s graduation.
The fiery mentor, a source said, was so frustrated that he spoke to his wards one by one, asking them if they had a hand in helping Alaska win.
“Ikaw, biyahe ka?” Guiao asked. “Ikaw?”
But E-Painters assistant coach Caloy Garcia toned down the rumor.
“Hindi naman (ganun exactly nangyari),” Garcia told Spin.ph the day after. “Siguro it was just out of frustration dahil we had a bad game.”

Guiao appeared to have cooled down in training on Saturday on the eve of Game Five.
“Sabi niya sa practice na kalimutan na natin lahat kagabi and let’s look forward to tomorrow’s game,” said Garcia, the reliable top deputy who has ably stepped in when Guiao was busy in his election campaign.
“Hopefully (we’ll finish it on Sunday),” he added. “We made some adjustments on defense and reviewed our offense.”
