ROOKIE Adrian Wong got a lot of ribbing from his Rain or Shine teammates after being fined without playing a single PBA game yet.
Coach Caloy Garcia disclosed the Elasto Painters teased Wong for the P20,000 penalty meted against him for being caught playing in a five-on-five game at a popular training facility in San Juan.
“Inaasar siya, donation daw. Dapat sa team na lang daw ibinigay,” said Garcia of the team’s Zoom meeting that followed after Wong was sanctioned by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for the violation.
Wong was fined by Commissioner Willie Marcial together with Barangay Ginebra big man Japeth Aguilar.
On top of the penalty, the two were ordered to undergo swab testing and do community services.
Garcia talked with his rookie about the matter, and the former Ateneo stalwart admitted playing during the pick-up game.

But not on the exact day the video, which became viral, was taken.
“I asked him naglaro ka ba talaga? Sabi niya that day hindi daw, The other day, yes daw,” the Rain or Shine coach said.
“Tanggap niya daw yung pagkakamali niya.”
Wong tested negative following the swab test procedure, according to Garcia.
“He did all the things the PBA asked him to do,” said the Rain or Shine coach.
